| Anthony went to the clinic today to have his blood count checked. His hemoglobin was 7.2, which is low. He will probably need a transfusion next week. His white blood cell count was 900; also low, but probably not at the bottom yet. He seems to be feeling fine, although not quite himself. He says his throat does not hurt so much anymore and is eating somewhat normally. The only thing he is complaining about is his stomach. I think it might be from the laxative. However, he did vomit (a big mess) once this morning after moaning a while about his stomach. Besides that, he is much better than he was at the same point after the first cycle. It is getting kind of tiring giving him is antibiotic (vomit fest), G-CSF shots (screaming and kicking fest), dressing changes, sponge baths, etc. Not only do we have to do all these things, but we have to try to keep Sarah away so she doesn't wind up pulling on his Broviac tubes, or getting herself stuck with a needle. Maria bears the burden of doing most of these things (Anthony says I stink at most of the things she now has to do), with assists from me. I don't know how a single parent would do this. |
